Response to email

I've been running around so much I simply hadn't seen this email, but appreciate your help. And, thanks in advance for any information that you in the group can provide.  I'm totally new to the concept of raw foods and wanted to know what particular books (or websites) have you found to be especially helpful.  Likewise, which foods to be most nurishing (or healing)?  I started to read about some "superfoods" and want to know if you had any experience with them.

Lastly, what equipment (kitchen aids) do you find most valuable?  ...Some folks say you only need a blender, and some say you must have a food processor.   Others say get a dehydrator.  What are your thoughts?

You definitely need a blender, pricey, but we got a Vita Mix, it's great... Also check out our blog, lots a links etc.. Small, but getting there....

Tiffany and I would both say, it's about the food, not the supplements... You can get almost everything you need from food & water, like spring water. If you do distilled, you will have to take some trace minerals...

One of the best, in our opinion, for almost all the "vitamins" you need, get some Royal Jelly (Fresh Royal Jelly Bee Pollen, Propolis,
Korean Ginseng, by YS) http://www.yahwehsaliveandwell.com/ysroyaljelly.html

Here's what we did:

1. Went to a nutritionist and did a 3 week cleanse (we ate only "salad" type foods and a almost raw protein shakes did take some supplements, if interested we could help) The first 3 to 5 day was the HARDEST thing we EVER did! It was HORRIBLE! It was like getting off drugs or something. Your body will retaliate, the sugar in it will cause withdraws, it sucks! Sorry, but that is why we met with a nutritionist, she helped us through what was going on with our minds and body. After about 5 days your body is like, "ok, I'm getting into this", then you feel AMAZING!

2. We ate/eat only Organic, and we do about 75% raw. I.E. for us, breakfast is mostly raw, shakes etc. then different snacks etc.. Dinner is where we have about 75% raw vegs or whatever, then we may have rice, sometimes fish or meat. We eat meat about 1 or 2 times a month...

3, Don't deprive yourself (after number 1) but don't go back to traditional sugars, sugar is cocane. Try raw chocolate, raw cane juice type treats, raw honey. One of our favs is raw chocolate powder, pumpkin seeds, walnuts, raw honey, bananas with ice all mixed up in out vita mix, ummm yummy chocolate shake!

4. We stay away from dairy and wheat about 90% of the time. (we eat spelt breads) We do get an organic or natural pizza from time to time, and Julies Organic chocolate ice cream (refer to number 3). Dairy and wheat has gotten myself, my daughter who had first stages of asthma, my son off all of meds. We take no more meds for sinuses, allergies, etc.. no enhaler for my daughter or alergy shots anymore, it's all about the food... We threw away all percription and over the counter meds over a year ago and it feels great not to be a SLAVE to them...

Hope this doesn't scrare you...

You did want a book email correct?  :-)
